2017 Fees


Tuition fees for domestic and overseas students are set by the Australian College of Theology. However, PTC offers subsidised fees to domestic students and these are shown in column 1.

Human Services (Centrelink) payments


PTC students studying approved courses (as defined by Centrelink) can avail themselves of the government payment through:

  • Youth Allowance (students 21 - 24 years old)
  • AUSTUDY (students 25 years old and over)
  • ABSTUDY (students of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent). 

Application should be done directly through Centrelink. The ‘A Guide to Australian Government Payment’ is available from the registrar.


FEE-HELP


The federal government loans scheme called FEE-HELP is available. Loans are available to Australian citizens undertaking eligible ACT accredited courses at PTC. 

A FEE-HELP information booklet and a request for FEE-HELP assistance form are available from the Registrar.


Bursary Fund


A limited number of bursaries are available to candidates for ministry in the Presbyterian Church. Further information regarding the nature of these bursaries is available on application to the Principal. These bursaries are not normally available to those receiving Austudy.


Diaconal Fund


Women who are supported in their application by the Session of their local church, of which they are a member, and whose study is either to prepare them for future diaconal ministry or further equip them for current diaconal ministry may be eligible for funding from the diaconal fund to support their study at the PTC. Application for such support may be made on the form available from the registrar.


Scholarships


The College draws attention to a number of scholarships that are available to defray the costs of study at the PTC.


The scholarships, based on merit and other set criteria, are listed below:

  • Students who are candidates for the ministry in the Presbyterian Church of Australia together with applicants through the Reception of Ministers Committee once accepted by a Presbytery.
  • Wife of any candidate for the ministry in the Presbyterian Church of Australia while her husband is studying.
  • PCA Ministers in good standing with their Presbytery.
  • Missionaries (accredited with a recognised denomination or mission organisation).


Application forms and further details of any of these scholarships are available from the Registrar. Home Missioners are encouraged to seek support for their studiesfrom the Ministry Development Committee. In addition the following special funds are available and students interested in applying for assistance from these funds should apply to the Principal.

Missions Fund – to give help to candidates for the missionary cross-cultural training course.

Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union -  funds for Presbyterian women training at PTC for cross-cultural missionary service.

Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union - bursaries for overseas students.

Postgraduate Fund – for students from overseas who want to undertake post-graduate studies.

Postgraduate Fund – for ministers of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria who want to undertake postgraduate studies overseas.


Travel Concessions


Full-time students who are permanent residents of Australia are eligible to purchase concession tickets for travel on suburban railways, tramways, and bus networks. The appropriate form can be obtained from most railway stations or on the PTV Website.
