Dr Michael Stead is the Australian Anglican Bishop of South Sydney. He completed a Bachelor of Commerce from UNSW, Bachelor of Divinity (Hons) and Diploma of Ministry from Moore College, and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy by the University of Gloucestershire.
Dr Stead serves on the Executive Committee of the General Synod and has been the Secretary of the General Synod Doctrine Commission since 2005. He was previously the rector of St James Turramurra and a part-time Old Testament lecturer at Moore Theological College. His research interests include Biblical Theology, the Atonement, Hermeneutics and Eschatology.
He has written five books and many articles including Zechariah – The Lord Returns (Sydney, Aquilla Press, 2015) and Christ Died for Our Sins: Essays on the Atonement From the Doctrine Commission of the Anglican Church of Australia (Editor, Canberra, Barton Books, 2013) among others.
