Training for fruitfulness

Established in faithfulness

Our units are rigorously Christ-centred and based on Scripture, including one of our specialty fields, biblical counselling. Class sizes are usually small, so you can have real engagement with your lecturers and fellow students. Our lecturers are pastors and counsellors, not trend-driven academics, so your study is people and ministry focussed. With a genuine community feel, you’ll quickly become part of the PTC family.

Equipped with the knowledge of God through reformed evangelical teaching, our students are prepared to seek the Spirit’s power to preach, teach, and minister the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Free Public Lecture with Dr Scott Swain

Presbyterian Theological College (PTC) invites you to an evening public lecture with Dr Scott R. Swain, President and Professor of Systematic Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS), Orlando, Florida. What does it mean when God says He is not a man—yet is like the horns of a wild ox (Num 23:19, 22)? How do we speak truthfully of the God who is unlike us, yet speaks to us in our language? In Holy Scripture, the high God stoops down to speak to us in our humble language. In doing so, he puts our humble language to a holy use: that of revealing his holy name. Numbers 23:13-26 provides an instructive example of the way God reveals himself in human words. In this passage, God simultaneously declares that he is “not man” (v. 19) and that he is “like the horns of the wild ox” (v. 22). Understanding how these two claims relate to each other will help us better understand the nature of the God who stands behind his promises and merits our eternal praise. Title: ‘Not a Man but an Ox: The Names of God in Numbers 23’ When: Wednesday 6 August 2025, starts at 7:30pm Where: 684 Elgar Road, Box Hill North 3129 Light supper provided. About the speaker Dr Swain is the author of The Trinity: An Introduction and The Trinity and the Bible: On Theological Interpretation. He also serves as co-editor for the New Studies in Dogmatics series (Zondervan Academic) and the International Theological Commentary series (T&T Clark). RSVP here by Thursday 31st July 2025.
